PRIM&R is pleased to introduce the members of the Blog Squad for the 2022 PRIM&R Annual Conference. The Blog Squad is comprised of PRIM&R members who will share their insights before, during, and after the conference.
Stay tuned as they share their conference insights on Ampersand.
Casey Mumaw, CIP, has worked in the IU Human Research Protection Program for the last eleven years and earned his CIP credentials nine years ago. At IU, his role includes serving as an IRB member, supervising HRPP staff who review SBER submissions, and serving as a member of office leadership. He regularly provides training and presentations to researchers in the IU community and is a frequent contributor to the SBER network forum.
He has presented at both PRIM&R’s AER and AAHRPP’s annual conference, and this year is co-hosting a pre-conference workshop focusing on drawing lines between Exempt and Expedited research, with a particular focus on deception and incomplete disclosure.
Outside work, he is an avid home chef (and will happily share his crème brûlée recipes), science fiction fan, and runner. He enjoys traveling with his wife, Rachel, with whom he has one thoroughly mediocre cat.
Ericka Seidemann, BS, MA, CIP, is the Human Protections Administrator for Woman’s Hospital, one of the largest women’s specialty hospitals in the United States, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has served as the HPA at the Woman’s Hospital Research Center for 15+ years. She has been a clinical study coordinator and with laboratory experience as an embryologist/andrologist as a Technical Supervisor. Her interests include research ethics and DE&I research initiatives.
At the 2022 PRIM&R Annual Conference, she looks forward to learning how to improve healthcare disparities with research opportunities for underserved populations and applying leadership skills to help those in the research community.

Before that, she served in various leadership roles in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, where she advised executive leaders and oversaw implementation of compliance strategies in global clinical research. She has 20 years of combined experience in research ethics and compliance.
